On that day, the so-called Alcor Colloquia took up the mantle of continuing to <strong>build the future and educate in freedom<\/strong>, now also paving the way for disciplines other tan journalism. <\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]The event not only served as a tribute to the more than 300 people involved in journalism and communication who passed through the Alcor auditorium, but also to the nearly twenty journalists who participated in this session, convinced that the best tribute to our society is to continue educating in freedom.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_3&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>With Marilo Montero<\/strong> acting as presenter, <strong>\u201cA review of information in 2025\u201d<\/strong> featured <strong>Vicente Vall\u00e9s<\/strong>, director and presenter of Noticias 2 on Antena 3\u2014the journalist currently closest to being a \u201crock star,\u201d as Maril\u00f3 Montero pointed out\u2014and the director-founder of the newspaper El Pa\u00eds and member of the Royal Spanish Academy, <strong>Juan Luis Cebri\u00e1n<\/strong>. He acknowledges that <strong>\u201cI learned a good part of the journalism I Know from Reading Cebrian\u00b4s El Pa\u00eds\u201d<\/strong>. They also agree on the general lines of their analysis, even regarding the <strong>two people responsable for an increasingly complicated situation: technology and politicians.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>For Cebrian, the current <strong>technological change<\/strong> represents a revolution <strong>\u201cgreater tan the printing press\u201d<\/strong>. The internet and social media have become a  <strong>polarizing arena \u201c98% of advertising is concentrated on social media\u201d <\/strong>given that more and more people, especially Young people, but not only them, are getting their information through social media, it is important that \u201cserious\u201d media outlets also be present online to provide information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are brutal campaigns to discredit media outlets<\/strong> that don\u00b4t support certain political positions, and there are attempts, such as the one now being explored by the current Spanish government, to <strong>control<\/strong> the media. Cebrian is blunt: <g id=\"gid_2\">\u201c The Spanish Constitution prohibits any type of prior censorship\u201d<\/g>. He adds <strong>\u201cWithout press clippings, all the political corruption that occurs in democratic countries would not have been exposed: Watergate, GAL, Filesa, Gurtel\u2026\u201d<\/strong>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<strong>More journalism<\/strong> is the only alternative. Vall\u00e9s continues to focus on the news, <strong>although it is no longer just a matter of \u201cexplaining what, but above all why.\u201d<\/strong> News must be put into context, analyzing what surrounds it, where it comes from, and where it is going. <g id=\"gid_2\">The internet and social media have led to the development of \u201ca twisted mindset\u201d<\/g> in newsrooms, and today they are hardly considered as a source of information, or at best as highly dubious, with their veracity being thoroughly verified. As for political interference, \u201cwhich is nothing new,\u201d the Antena 3 journalist regrets it, although more for <strong>the future of democracy than for the future of journalism, \u201cwhich continues to exist, but is tending toward weakness.\u201d<\/strong>    <\/p>\n<p>The second panel, <strong>\u201cThe mainstream media under scrutiny,\u201d<\/strong> featured ABC deputy editor <strong>Elena de Miguel<\/strong> and <strong>\u00c1lvaro Nieto<\/strong>, editor of The Objective, who uncovered the <strong>Delcy case<\/strong> in Vox Populi and the <strong>Koldo case<\/strong> in the digital newspaper he runs, among others, and who urges us to keep an eye on <strong>Plus Ultra<\/strong>. Events, subscriptions or paywalls, and search engine dependence are highly relevant issues in this environment. But also, the average subscription, flooded with great deals, has driven down the Price of subscrption.  <\/p>\n<p>The liner business structures of digital newspapers than of traditional newspapers allw them to compete better. Nieto advocates open journalism, <strong>a journalist must select what\u00b4s happening and worth reporting and organize ir<\/strong>, in fact, her masthead only features boutique topics daily.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; locked=&#8221;off&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]In Elena de Miguel&#8217;s opinion, <strong>an influencer is not comparable to a journalist, but a journalist can be an influencer.<\/strong> The third panel, <strong>\u201cCommunicators and Messages,\u201d<\/strong> featured <strong>Pedro Piqueras, \u00c1ngel Exp\u00f3sito, and Luis del Val.<\/strong> The <strong>hallmark<\/strong> of someone who has worked for TVE, Antena 3, and Telecinco is the <strong>production of balanced news programs and reporting on current events<\/strong>.
